Interview with photographer Rai Robledo

Rai Robledo, the successful photographer based in the underground heart of Madrid, is a living example of how to highlight yourself as an artist in the today’s over saturated digital era.

I had a lovely conversation with Rai while I was in Spain and we got to talk about music, Madrid, Terry Richardson, Ladygunn magazine and photography today. It was a delight!

Read the complete interview that I made him at Ladygunn Magazine's site.

PLAYING WITH LIGHTS AND HORSES

Some of my homeworks for photography.
I had to do a few self portraits.

I learnt a lot about how to use the setting of the camera depending of the light that you have, it was all dark only with the little party lights and with that paper lamp.

I've also found out that I love blurry pictures and that I will be obsessed with them for a while.

Also, I wanted to show you my Ralph Lauren vintage Shirt.

In love with Juliette, has a gun

Juliette has a gun, not a particular girl, just all of us girls looking for something different.

Didn't you smell the eight heavenly fragances of Juliette has a gun? Well, you have to, and when you do it you will fall in love just like me, and like everyone who does it.

Some of my favourites names of the JHAG parfums are: Lady vengeance, Calamity J., Not a perfume or Vengeance extreme. The best names ever for a perfume?

So, here are my favourites fragances:

LADY VENGEANCE

It means everyone around turning their heads to you. I wonder if they called it like that because it could be a great idea to slide around an ex while wearing that one.

ROMANTINA

It's the same girl who wears ''Lady vengeance'' but a sweeter version. I would call it celestial, nothing else to say.

CALAMITY J.

It's way my dad's perfume but for a girl. Isn't it awesome?

The other five are Miss charming, Vengeance extreme, Not a perfume, Citizen Queen and MIDNIGHT OUD, in caps because I couldn't believe that a perfume could smell like the night before to a hangover.

The creator of all of this is Romano Ricci. When someone is really talented I don't like to say that he is the son of, she is the granddaughter of, the nephew of... That's why I wouldn't like to say that he is the grandson of Nina Ricci.

Ready to invest in your own smell?

Business cards

I've had a lot of business cards but this design is the one I am proud about.

I wanted to show my essence, something hard to do on a tiny piece of paper. I decided to show some pictures I like that you can find on my tumblr Im Just Hiding, a reliable example of how my style is.

They have a little magnets on the back, so people can post them on their fridge or on whatever metal thing.

In addition to my name and my info there are some messages in five diffrent languages and a space for me to write a personalized message on the reverse.

Packing again for New York

I am doing it again, I am packing back a big part of my most preciate stuff to take to New York. Now I'm at home wich is away in Europe, in the south of Spain. I'll have to travel 12 hours and I don't have a ticket back.

Packing is always tortuous specially for me, I have to pack too many times in only a year. Anyway I've found the way to picture it and take to New York the last souvenir from home.

WHY DON'T TO PICTURE US GIRLS AS WE ARE?

One of my favorite magazines is PURPLE FASHION MAGAZINE. This magazine is more than just a fashion magazine, at least more than what people think that a fashion magazine should be. To me this mag is exclusively about fashion because to me fashion are artists, photographers, musicians, writers and people living in this world, mainly people living in this world.

That should be the reason of why to me the prettiest things are always the most underground, no shinning, no sparkly, no nice, no perfect.

I've loved this Purple Winter fashion editorial from the fall/winter 2011 issue of this magazine. It's about two real sisters (not exactly the Olsens) and their real intereses in their real lifes showing their own style wich they adapt to their actual day a day.

I can find here more beauty than what I could find in a Kardasians show (I saw once 10 minuts of one).

For the Winter collections RICHARD KERN photographed the sisters SARAH and BRITNEY, indoors and outdoors, revealing the litany of teenage obsessions: cell phones, breast measurements, holding each other’s hand, acting coy, playing in the woods, piercing the same eyebrow, taking pills, abusing drugs, sneaking smokes, running naked, and just being young.
